Business Reply Mail is postage prepaid by the University for returning items to the University.  The University is only charged for the actual items that are returned to the University.

Illinois State University has been assigned four different zip codes that are used on our business reply mail pieces. The zip coded used is based on the contents of the return envelope.

An example of what not to do with a business reply envelope.  The Business Reply Envelopes delivery address should never be altered.  If altered, higher rates are charged.

Courtesy Reply Mail is when postage is paid by the customer to return something to you.  An envelope is included in the mailing pre addressed to come back to you.  This helps speed up the mail returned to you because all courtesy reply mail envelopes also include a barcode that allows the mail to be automated.
