MAIL SERVICE CENTER |
NEWS |
Twelfth Edition:
Welcome to the MSC newsletter. It has
been a couple of months since we have sent a newsletter, so I decided it was
time to get some information/reminders out to you.
Shannon Covey, Director of Mail Services
Mail Piece Design and Addressing
Mail Services held the first class on mail piece design at the Alumni Center on April 21st. This class was very well attended, but there were some who could not attend at the time. As a result, Mail Services offered additional classes in our office and these filled up rapidly. Therefore, to meet the demands of the campus, we are going to offer more of these classes between May 11th and the 22nd. These classes include the same presentation as the class at the Alumni Center, but on a smaller scale. Also included at no extra charge is a tour of Mail Services and a look at some of the extra services that we offer. Currently, we have not set the dates/times because we are going to gauge the response to see how many classes we need to offer. Each class is limited to five attendees and generally last between a 1 hour and 1 ½ hours. If you would like to attend one of these sessions, please send an email to smcovey@ilstu.edu with a few dates/times that you would be available to attend.
U.S. Postal Service Postage Increase
A reminder that the U.S. Postal Service postage rates are increasing on May 11, 2009. Overall, the increase for the University in postage costs is 4%. If you have questions how the postal increase will effect a particular mailing or your department overall, please contact Mail Services.

Surplus Envelopes
In our last newsletter, we asked for any surplus campus envelopes. The response was great. Nevertheless, I want to remind you again that any time that you have surplus campus envelopes, you may include them with your outgoing mail and Mail Services will recycle them for use by other departments.
Update Addresses
We have been having issues with UPS packages being sent to
incorrect addresses. It is important to make sure that a current address
is used when sending any package or letter. An incorrect address may incur
charges of up to $10.00 from UPS. A phone call is much cheaper than that.
Also, if you use the UPS Charge Slip creator on our website that will eliminate
any entry errors on our part.
Closing
This newsletter has been a short one, but with important issues. If you have questions about how the postage increase will affect your department or would like more information about the Mail Piece Design and Addressing class, please do not hesitate to call.
Until next time.
Thanks,
Shannon
